Possibilities

Metavid enabled project ideas

  • An IRC server/channel '#senate' where bots with nicks == senator names (eg Boxer_D_CA ) repeat what's going on in the senate. Possibly an interface for annotation? An AIM (jabber) Bot that recounts the same? Related idea - registering senators as AIM bots (or Jabber bots on our own jabber server if the aim thing becomes too problematic) where they say whatever they're saying through the bots. And maybe there's a conference (group chat) which represents the floor of the senate? Or taking this beyond the point of immediate viability, reconstructing the senate using bots in a first person shooter!
  • A coded color alert system based on the number of times the word 'terror' in a given day?
  • A moving average word frequency distribution highlighting the selective vocabulary of particular politician.
  • A real-time blog tracking query that pulls in all relevant posts that discuss editorialize the proposed bill being discussed.
  • An element that lists links to wikipedia documentation on a per-senator per-bill level.
  • A timestamp namespace wiki for annotations and hypertext content to be associated with particular times with particular footage.
  • A more complex overlay would have politicians visually overlaid with the logos of the corporations that financed their campaign.
  • Another complex overlay could include lexographically tagging the close caption stream and replacing words with context relevant appropriations.
