Shelley Berkley: i rise in support of this long due -- long overdue legislation. coming from a state with one of the highest percentages of uninsured children, it is essential to re-authorize schip to extend the program to cover more low-income, uninsured children. in 2007, more than 40,000 youngsters benefited from the nevada checkup program.

Shelley Berkley: this bill will enable nevada to continue coverage for these children and to reach out to a portion of the 70,000 children currently eligible who remain uninsured. this bill also includes funding to improve outreach to eligible populations, increase funding and the focus on outreach and enrollment will help extend
