McHenry: goes in the opposite direction. there's nothing new about this foundation that they're offering, and there's nothing lasting in terms of prosperity that will be produced from this legislation. this is the largest increase in government s president jimmy carter. and the malaise days of the 1970's.

McHenry: it was the wrong approach then and it's the wrong approach now. i think we need to work together to find a real solution. president obama called last night for us to make the hard choices to bring down the debt. well, if tt's the case, there were no hard choices in this legislation before us today because it doesn't bring down the debt.
