Frank Jr.Pallone: pain is the most common reason americans access the health care system and is the leading cause of disability. it is also a major contributor to health care costs. the national center for health statistics estimates that 76.2 million, or one in four americans, have suffered from pain that lasts longer than 24 hours. millions more americans suffer from acute pain.
